Will you be pouring Shaftesbury Maple Syrup on your Pancakes!

Will you be pouring Shaftesbury Maple Syrup on your Pancakes!

In 2022 our Captain, Kevin Baumber, created a challenging Strava segment to take the shape of the maple leaf to set a personal challenge - fun fact: 74k to reflect his birth year. It was too good not to share the suffering so the challenge was set to test the Shaftesbury CC members with the hope of securing a bottle of the exclusively sourced Shaftesbury (trophy branded) Syrup!

As we look forward to drier roads it will be great to see more members take on the now infamous Maple Leaf Challenge which not only offers the opportunity to receive the Shaftesbury Syrup, but also be rewarded with a handcrafted Maple Leaf trophy from our 'milling master' Paul Looke.

To join the leaderboard simply complete the route. To qualify for the special prizes and join the few who have made it into the elite syrup squad the route needs to be completed solo in road bike conditions - and so no drafting behind Rob Young! Qualifying times are 2 hours 15 for men and 2 hours 30 for women. Of course, this is as much about a personal challenge and so just completing the 74km route in any time is good for the leaderboard.

Completing this ride within the prize winning qualifiying time will also give you confidence of joining on the next Sunday Black group ride!!

Here's the segment - https://www.strava.com/segments/31819373 - looking forward to more members adding their name to the list and seeing our first female qualifier.

Note: The receipt of the Shaftesbury Syrup and Trophy is a once in a lifetime achievement (unless of course Paul continues with his generosity of updating bettered times).
